Sunday Meetup 25th January at the Welshmill Hub

For the first time in 2026, it’s time for our semi-regular last-Sunday-of-the-month afternoon session! We’re meeting from 14:00 til 16:00 on Sunday 25th at the Remakery/Welshmill hub.

Feel free to bring any projects you’re working on, use the tools, discuss any interesting tech you’ve been looking into, ask questions, or just catch up.

The 3D printer is ready for action, as is the laser cutter, and also the CNC machine (but that needs a training session and a bit of supervision to use.)

When: 2pm - 4pm Sunday 25th January.

Who: members and prospective members.

Where: The Remakery, upstairs at Welshmill Hub, Park Hill Drive, BA11 2LE . (Park Hill Drive is off Welshmill road, near the Play Park/Bump Track)

I’m away over the weekend but hope to be back in time to make this.

Great!

For everyone: a quick note about techshed finances. The hire of the Remakery costs £24 each session. Historically we asked for £3 per session, and £5 annual membership, but recently we’ve been very lax about asking. Even at £3, with current attendances, we don’t break even.

So, any thoughts on that would be welcome. Any contributions for membership and attendance last year would also be welcome.

points arising…

  • there’s a big bamboo sphere in the remakery, explained in this facebook post
  • six attendees, all agree that continuing with a 2 hour monthly session is good, and £5 per session should more or less work out. Collected £10 from each player, for the present and previous session
  • mention of projects aquatic and fluidic, electrical and artistic, and of course several of us don’t have active projects, only stalled projects
  • discussion about the Bath share and repair library of things, where there’s a good timetabled approach to volunteering, and a program for trainee repair person
  • discussion of different kinds of projects - techshed-wide community projects, small-scale collaborations, funded assistance on projects, solo projects where what we share is the interest and enthusiasm
  • ideas welcome for things to do or to discuss at future meetups

New thread on ad-hoc (infrastructureless) radio mesh networking, which might be a fun thing to do:
