As noted in the chat, Apple’s Mac line started with Motorola’s 68000 family, then moved to PowerPC (Moto+IBM+Apple as a consortium), then to Intel’s monstrosity (no value judgements from me) and now lately back to ARM. That’s CISC to RISC, back to CISC and back again.
Apple co-funded ARM as it spun off from Acorn, and that share of ARM saved them when they got into financial trouble:
